Advanced Riding Techniques Ltd, terms & conditions for all motorcycle lessons, training and tests.

Terms and Conditions: Important, please read all the following information very carefully.


1. You MUST bring your current, valid UK Driving licence for all courses. As from the 8th of June 2015 you are only required to bring the photocard licence (plastic part) You may be asked for a share my licence code so please be aware of your national insurance number. If you have an old style (pre 1998) paper only licence, you must also bring your passport if you are taking a D.V.S.A. Practical Test. Failure to do this could result in your test or training being cancelled with the loss of your test fee.

 

2. Before taking the DVSA Practical test for a full licence, you MUST have already passed the Motorcycle Theory Test, CBT and bring your certificates with you, For module 2 test you must also bring your module 1 test pass certificate.

 

3. If you are using a motorcycle other than that provided by ART, it must be in a roadworthy condition, with valid excise licence (road fund) and L Plates if appropriate. We will also need to see your insurance certificate, and if the machine is over 3 years old we will also need to see a valid MOT certificate. Make sure you have plenty of fuel in the tank.

 

4. If you have any medical condition or special requirements, which may affect your riding, please inform us when booking, and advise your instructor on arrival. We would strongly advise against taking motorcycle training during pregnancy or taking prescription medication that could affect your ability to ride and as such reserve the right to continue training with you.

 

5. If you are taking a DVSA Practical Test, please inform us of your Driving Licence Number at least 12 working days before the course starts, to enable us to book your test. Failure to do this will result in your test being cancelled with the loss of your test fee.

 

6. We operate strictly on a 12 working day cancellation basis, meaning that all courses booked within 12 full working days must be paid for in full, all courses due within this period cannot be cancelled, changed or refunded.

Please note during peak times, 1st March to October 31st there is 28 working day cancellation period on full licence courses. Courses run rain or shine, and will only be cancelled in dangerous weather conditions, eg. Snow, ice, thick fog, or very high winds.

 

7. ART supply full safety equipment for you to use on all of our courses. All equipment is checked and sanitised between use but you must accept the fact that all equipment provided has been worn by other before you and you are happy to wear it!
If you would like to purchase any safety equipment of your own, upon making a booking for training with ART we will arrange discount of UP TO 20% with P&H Motorcycles. Please note this does not apply to items in a sale or already reduced.

 

8. We have to make you aware our insurance excess for any damage or claim is £750. This is only waived if a New Rider Course is conducted at the beginning of your training with ART. We expect our bikes will get a little "bruised" from time to time, so we only charge for parts if damaged slightly. i.e. brake & clutch levers, lights, indicators Etc. The insurance excess will only be charged in full if the accident is ultimately found to be your fault and the bike or another vehicle is seriously damaged.

 

9. Most day long courses start 08:30 late arrivals will result in cancellation of your course and loss of your course fees.

CBT courses, although scheduled to finish at around 4 to 4:30pm, may sometimes finish early, or run as late as 5.30 or 6pm, depending on how the day progresses. Any immediate or return CBT within two years will be discounted at 10% for the course. 

 

10. If you wear glasses for driving, you must bring them with you. If wearing contact lenses it is advisable to bring spares. You must be able to read with glasses or contact lenses if necessary, a car number plate made after 1 September 2001 from 20 metres (67ft).

 

11. STUDY THE HIGHWAY CODE! This is especially important if this will be your first time on the road. The better you understand it, the safer you will be, and the greater your chances of completing CBT, or passing your test. A very high percentage of young riders do not obtain a CBT certificate, simply by not having read the HWC!

 

12. If attending for Compulsory Basic Training, you should bring lunch with you, the catering facilities on site consist of kettle for tea & coffee, fridge & the use of a microwave, clean drinking water available at all times whilst on training site.

During all other courses, we will normally stop at a café for lunch, so please inform your instructor of any special dietary requirements. Please remember to bring some money with you for lunch.

 

13. All gift vouchers are valid for one calendar year from the date of purchase and cannot be refunded or exchanged for cash, goods or any other service.

 

14. Should the motorcycle or scooter hired to you by ART ltd become unroadworthy due to accident damage, we reserve the right to terminate your training for that day, with no refund of course fee. If an ART machine becomes unroadworthy due to mechanical failure, and we are unable to offer an alternative, we reserve the right to re-schedule your training at a mutually convenient time.

 

15. ART Ltd, including its assessors, servants and agents shall not be held liable for any loss, damage, injury, or any consequential loss, damage or injury, or any indirect loss damage or injury sustained either during or, as a consequence of the undertaking of said session, unless any such loss, damage or injury is due to negligence or other failure of ART Ltd. its assessors, servants or agents, to perform or execute any of its obligations under general law.
