What can I ride at 19 years of age?

A2 Motorcycles and Scooters

The A2 category of motorcycles and scooters can be ridden at 19 years of age once you have passed the full A2 test. This will involve the motorcycle theory test, a CBT certificate and a test with the D.V.S.A. The minimum size bike you must take the test on is 395 cc.
The current A2 category was introduced in Jan 2013, it allows the rider to have up to 35 kW (47 Bhp) but it also has a power to weight ratio (0.2kw per Kg). As an example a 47 Bhp must weigh at least 175 Kg, if your A2 bike only weighs 155 Kg then then maximum power permitted is  31 kW (42 Bhp).
We get asked all of the time "what bikes can I restrict for the A2 licence" The easy answer is any size bike as long as it produces no more than 70 kw (94 Bhp) These must be manufacturer official quoted figures, not ones from your mates dyno.
